DOMO Waffle Cheese burger

4 waffles

Ingredients

For the waffles:

  • 130 g spelt flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cane sugar
  • 320 ml milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 120 ml sunflower oil

For the topping:

  • 4 hamburgers
  • 4 slices of Cheddar cheese
  • 1 large red onion
  • 1 handful of mixed lettuce
  • A couple of sun-dried tomatoes

Preparation

 

  1. Mix all dry ingredients.
  2. Add the milk and sunflower oil to another bowl with 2 egg yolks. Mix until smooth.
  3. Add half of the mixture to the dry mass and mix.
  4. Next, add the remaining liquid and whisk into a smooth mass.
  5. Whisk 2 egg whites until stiff and add to the mixture.
  6. Add the batter to the waffle iron and bake the waffles until golden brown.
  7. Fry the hamburgers in a pan with some butter until done. For the final minute, top the hamburgers with a slice of cheddar each until the cheese melts.
  8. Use a small saucepan to fry the onion rings.
  9. Use one waffle as the bottom of your burger. Place some lettuce on top. Top with the hamburger with melted cheese and finish with some onion and sun-dried tomatoes. Close the burger with a second waffle and use a skewer to keep everything in place.
